Dear All, Welcome to the second semester of the Academic Writing course! I hope you had a good semester break and are ready to continue mastering your writing skills. Today we're going to discuss what students' life around the world is like and then create a guide for the students from other parts of the world coming to study at our university. It'd be great if as part of this task you could interview a student from another department about what his/her life at the university is like and what kind of experiences s/he has had, both good and not quite. In the end I'm hoping that we'll be able to create this guide that your peers will be able to use to make their life easier. In the thread below please share a summary of your discussion of the qus in Ex 1 Also, here is a link to the University of East Anglia students' guidebook: https://portal.uea.ac.uk/documents/6207125/8540534/University+Student+Handbook+for+Taught+Programmes You should ...
Those places on the photos are attractive for tourists basically because they differ from places they actually live in. Nevertheless, people tend to make them quite alike by littering, destroying in some way or just spoiling because its-just-a-little-piece-of-trash-it-will-not-do-any-harm (wrong). I believe there is a quite effective solution for this problem: fees of substantial amount of money and actual surveillance.
ReplyDeleteWe've discussed some issues about popular destinations for tourism and here some thoughts about this topic: people travel to such places as temples and mountains to find some kind of inner peace; however, these destinations are so popular, that by being filled with crowds daily are damaged by littering. I suggest bringing in some sort of punishment for littering, e.g. big fines and supervision. People have to take care of the heritage of the humankind to prevent its exstinction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I quite agree that smth should be done to preserve the nature and its beauty as well as the objects that together make up our heritage.
DeleteDear All,
ReplyDeleteI want to tell you about "Market forces in tourism".
First of all, there are a lot of places which attracts tourists due to their nature and incredible atmospere. Unfortunately, these destinations are caused by their populatity. Many people destroy them every day: trash and rob. These problems can be resolved only by people. If we take care of nature, it will be grateful to us and everything in the world will be good and people will be kinder.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a secret that all attractions are always full of tourist crowds. Why is it so? It depends on different things. First of all, some attractions such as Machu Picchu or ancient temple of one chinese village are the only beautiful place in that area. So, this is why these places are attractive to tourists. Because of this it also has some negative effects on these destanations. For istance, there are a lot of rubbish there. People don't think about nature when throw leftovers. These problems can be resolved by using cameras and big fines.
